Daily Cleaning Protocol
After every patient: Wipe the probe head, cable, and connector with an approved low-level disinfectant wipe. Do not submerge the connector. Allow to air dry.
End of day: Clean with mild soap and water, followed by approved disinfection. Inspect the probe face for cracks, chips, or delamination. Inspect the cable for kinks or exposed wires.
High-Level Disinfection
Required for probes used in invasive procedures. Follow your facility infection control policy and use only Mindray-approved disinfection agents. Incompatible chemicals can damage the probe lens or acoustic matching layers.
Probe Sheath Usage
Use a sterile probe sheath for any procedure involving contact with broken skin or sterile fields. Sheaths are single-use. A torn sheath means the probe requires high-level disinfection before the next use.
Cable Management
Most common probe failure cause: cable damage from improper storage. Never let probes hang with cable bearing the weight, drape cables over sharp edges, or tightly coil cables. Use the probe holders on the system and loosely loop cables.
Probe Check Feature
Navigate to Setup > Maintenance > Probe Check. Click Probe Check. Malfunctioning transducer elements appear as red spots on the element map. Run monthly and any time you notice image quality changes or after a drop.
